12 Vicarage Lane, Sandwich

12 Vicarage Lane is a comfortable 2 bedroom holiday cottage set in the heart of medieval Sandwich. Situated on a quiet lane opposite the Old Vicarage, the accommodation is perfect for couples and families. The accommodation is pet-friendly too with a courtyard garden and pretty flint wall. Both the living room and dining room have open fires – a relaxing way to end the day after a busy day exploring. Sandwich is packed full with heritage sites, Sandwich Bay is a 10-minute flat cycle away and the UNESCO site of Canterbury a short 30-minute drive away.

With a modern twist on traditional, and with the use of bold colours and modern patterns this home has a timeless and hip look. The lamp room painted in soft grey has a modern sofa that can convert into a sofa bed and two Annabelle chairs. There is also a TV with Freeview and DVD player. A large dining room is contemporary in style with its white gloss table, bold print sideboard and loveseat. A brand new gallery style gloss white kitchen has been fitted with hob, oven, dishwasher and washing machine.

The master bedroom is king size and the back bedroom a twin with zip and link beds that too can be a king double. The bedrooms decorated in a soothing paper white with soft furnishings in subtle greys and blues. From the back bedroom there is an incredible aspect looking out over characterful timber framed houses. There is a good size family bathroom with bath and shower enclosure on the second floor.

A sunny courtyard garden has outdoor seating with BBQ area. It’s a little oasis with flower beds, interesting shrubs and herb garden where you can help yourself to fresh rosemary, thyme and sage.

Sandwich is a delight to wander around. With wonderful street names like Paradise Row, Short Street and Gallows Field it is easy to lose  yourself in the history of this town. There is a great choice of restaurants –  the Hop and Huffkin Kentish Dining Room delivers delicious food and 17th Century coaching inns the Crispin Inn and the Admiral Owen close to the Quay offer good local ales. The Bell Hotel has a lovely outside terrace to watch the world go by. Seal spotting boat trips leave from the Quay throughout the year.

There is free wi-fi. The car can be pulled up outside for unloading bags. After 5.30pm Monday to Saturdays the car can be parked on neighbouring streets unrestricted until 8.30am the following morning (and all day on Sundays). There is a Pay and Display car park a short walk away or a three-minute walk away will bring you to free unrestricted on the street parking.. The property is strictly no smoking (in the courtyard is fine).
